There is nothing wrong with asking someone to be a sounding board for your ideas

I was talking with a new client last week. In this conversation he highlighted a problem that many people have.

The fear of asking for help, advice or just a sympathetic ear.

He had been considering a certain marketing strategy for ages – its pros and cons, whether it would work and how much it would cost.

The problem was that he did all of this in his head without asking anyone for help.

Finally in a moment of frustration, he called me and we had a chat over coffee. It wasn’t really about what services I could offer him, or how much my services would cost – it was about him using me as a sounding board.

As he spoke to me about his ideas, you could see his own view solidifying. As I asked appropriate questions it gave him clarity about what he was really trying to achieve.

In the end, it provided him with the confidence to pursue a direction.

Over coffee he wrote his plan around this strategy and left our meeting knowing exactly what services he would need to employ to get his marketing off the ground.

So call me sometime for a coffee and take a load off your mind.  You’ll feel great knowing that you are actually going to reach a goal.

As a Melbourne based copywriter I’m happy to also have a phone conversation if you live somewhere else.
